O bright eyed mystic!
Spin the gyre, for I wish to pay respects to your divine being…
I have known you for countless births,
Felt your smile blooming love, waging wars, doing wonders.
You are the Narayana they believe in,
I still wish not to be Arjuna and be the spine of your wonders,
I shall content myself staying Satyaki,
Who even if unarmed held his arms against mightiest armies,
My choices may have baffled many,
I chose Dharma despite my own comrades standing against me,
I chose you while my conscience was at war with myself,
And yet never failed to lock horns with the foe.
So what if Drona’s arrows pierced my chest?
So what if Bhurishrava almost beheaded me?
I was born to be your devotee, disciple and fellow Yadu.
I do not wish immortality for no demon stays within me,
Nor do I regret not offspringed by the devas,
I’d rather be the one you never turn your shade off from…
I’d rather be the one to guard your principles,
Kaliyuga may not acknowledge me for my exploits,
Men of tomorrow may not look up to me for what I am,
But my soul, O Narayana, shall remain content merely for existing under your blessings.
Spin the gyre for I wish to be a lesson to posterity.
